Gifts From The Kitchen

January 5, 2012 in Etiquette, Learning

When dining in a fine restaurant, very often the chef will send out little gifts that have not been ordered. These are called an amuse bouche (ah-mewz-boosh). It is usually a tiny bite at the beginning of the meal, sometimes a thimble of soup or a minute nibble of seafood. At the end of the meal, it might be an assortment of chocolates or a petit four, a tiny square pastry.

It is meant to tickle your fancy and to make you feel special. How marvelous!
